Group Loot Policy

(usually for 5-man groups)

Civil Discussion

It is very important that loot rules be established before heading out, or bad feelings can easily arise. Discussion about desired items is encouraged before the raid, so all group members are aware of potential competition for a particular item. Remember that even with good loot policies, unique situations and problems can arise. Civily discussing the issue will usually solve the problem. However, this is no guarantee against the determined jerks of the world.

Need / Greed System

Blizzard has now implemented a need / greed system in the default Warcraft user interface. For 5-man groups, it is recommended that all members utilize this system.

If you can not use the item, or if the item is not an upgrade for you, please roll "greed" (coin icon).

If you will use the item, please declare your intent to roll "need" (dice icon) in group chat. If you have not won a "need" roll during this event, you can roll "need." If you have previously won a "need" roll, and someone declares "need" on the current item, please consider passing on the item to share the wealth.

Chests

A /random 100 greed roll determines the winner. If a chest item is an upgrade for another member of the party, it should be traded to them.

Enchanters

We do not support Enchanters receiving unwanted items by default. Royal Steel members are instead encouraged to support their guild enchanters through donations.

Courtesy

Royal Steel is a guild with courteous members. After winning a valuable or important item or several greed rolls, winners often pass until future rolls spread the wealth out a bit. Please use your judgement, but don't pass if you're the only one who will use the item.
